La Grange

Welcome to La Grange, Cavagnac.

Having moved from Scotland in January 2018 to an empty barn in need of renovation, we would now like to welcome you to our home in the beautiful countryside of Lot.

La Grange is a unique, contemporary styled house, which still retains some of the character of the original rural building. Built in local stone over 100 years ago, La Grange offers a quiet respite from a busy life. After a morning at a local market or a stroll around our many ‘Plus Beaux Villages ‘, why not return to La Grange for some relaxation, a dip in the pool, or take a walk in the surrounding woodland. Perhaps you just want a bed for the night before continuing on to another destination. Whatever the reason, we are happy to welcome you here.

Sandra and William Lindsay

Residential Glass Course

Sandra Lindsay studied glass manufacturing at North Glasgow College, Scotland, and after completing the course she taught at the college until obtaining a position with Pearsons Glass.

From 2006 Sandra worked in her home studio in Scotland producing artworks for galleries and private clients. Some of these pieces employed a variety of techniques such as leading, copper foiling, painting, and fusing. Sandra now works from her studio in France in the beautiful region of Lot.

The introductory course is suitable for beginners with little or no previous glass experience. It is intended to develop a sense of design and an ability to transfer that into a finished glass panel. We will manufacture the panel using the traditional method of lead came, but the design can be abstract and contemporary. You can produce your own design or use one from the studio. The choice is yours.

Guests should arrive on the Sunday and get to know one another over the evening meal before starting the course on Monday. If your flight arrives on the Saturday please get in touch with us to check availability for accommodation on the Saturday evening. The course runs for 5 days Monday to Friday with a break for morning coffee and a light lunch, then dinner in the evening (5 evening meals). For one evening we will recommend a restaurant for dining out. There should be 6 hours of tuition per day but this is flexible, it could be more, depending on how well we are progressing. I would hope that this course will give you an insight into how the creation of beautiful, glass works of art are achievable. The course is intended to give you some skills to proceed further, if you wish. But most of all – it should be FUN.

We would recommend that you take out travel insurance.

We can collect you from Brive airport or train station.

As all the meals are prepared here at home please let us know in advance if you have any dietary requirements.

There are three bedrooms, 2 rooms with a double bed, and 1 room with 2 single beds. A further single bed can be added to the twin room or a double room. All bedrooms have an en-suite with shower.
